71, years ago

So, Max made a great claim for ’77 as a classic music year, though he missed out Talking Heads ’77 and a few others like AJA and Marquee Moon, which just underline what a great year it was. As he says — you get tired of typing… My own favourite has commonly been 1970 but the seventies just had the best music … period. So, let’s choose 1971 as another example and just get excited: Here are just some of the treasures:

  • American Pie
  • Led Zeppelin IV
  • Hunky Dory
  • Sticky Fingers
  • Blue
  • LA Woman
  • What’s Going On
  • Meddle
  • Tapestry
  • Electric Warrior
  • Yes Album
  • Every Picture Tells aStory
  • Nursery Cryme
  • Ram
  • If I could only remember my name
  • Cahoots
  • Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon
  • Tupelo Honey
  • History of Melody Nelson

And it is of course on Cahoots that we get the introduction of the world to the famous phrase ‘Belfast Cowboy.’ Go, Van, Go.
