Summer is nearly over but wot better way to end it than with a crawl round the country pubs.
Starting with the Five Alls at Filkins. A very smart foodie pub in Oxfordshire. Pleasant small beer garden with a lovely rowan tree a-growing but the highlight is the loos, as is so often the case. Here, it is the wonderful magic-door entrance trick (have you tried that one, Max?). Yes, you go in through the bookcase, just like in all those old stately home movies. Very nice posh bar staff and fantastic kitchens. The beer was good too (Brakspear’s Oxford Gold), if you like that pale and interesting sort of thing (!??!).
