While I have uninterrupted sovereignty over this site I might as well praise the Rub Club. I don’t recall (San Fransisco at all) whether Max ever shook his tush rub-a-dub stylee but a clubnight playing soul, motown and roots music was mighty fine. It was the time that reggae won us over: Culture, Gregory Isaacs, Aswad, Burning Spear, Black Uhuru and above all Misty in Roots. And the beer was cheap. Kentucky’s personal favourite was The Gladiators’ 7-inch Stickabush. Apparently it’s about how every person has his or her mate somewhere in the world: https://www.jah-lyrics.com/song/gladiators-stick-a-bush Here comes Johnny Reggae indeed!
