In the good old days when Kentucky and I used to drink to excess and I’d have time to read, Kentucky would frequently suggest books for my unenlightened scientific brain. Without Kentucky’s advice I probably wouldn’t have broken away from my love of Stephen Donaldson. One of the books he suggested was Portnoy’s Complaint by Philip Roth and of course I loved it. In fact, I need to re-read many of his suggestions including:
- Lucky Jim – Kingsley Amis
- On The Road – Jack Kerouac (of course)
- Catcher in the Rye – J. D. Salinger.
- Under the Volcano – Malcolm Lowry
- Health & Efficiency
I’m sure there were others I’ve forgotten. Maybe Kentucky and The Consul will post the names of their top ten books for me to read?
