Huge Cornball

The Consul reminded me of one of the great bands on the late 70’s – The Stranglers. He rightly places their first album, Rattus Norvegicus, as their best. Although they fell into the Punk crowd, their music was certainly a little more sophisticated than the average three chord wonder of the time. To me, after the first three albums things were over. When Hugh left they should have called it a day – just like when Mick Jones parted ways with The Clash. But like many of us old duffers they liked their day job and just carried on. All the same they produced some great music in the late 70’s and were amazing to see live and I continue to enjoy them today. I even saw JJ Burnel in ’79 when he went on a solo tour for Euroman Cometh. Great concert!
