Salvation !

CAMRA pub of the year in 2014, and you can see why. The Salvation is a real traditional drinking pub for the locals in the local Gloucestershire village of Ham. I had a few lovely local beers there last weekend and, after trying their Rare Breed as part of my recent flight, the Blackbeard Stout from the Butcombe brewery was a favourite– rich and thick, so not at all like me or anything to which I am used.

It was the landlady’s birthday and some local was tickling the ivorys, belting out songs from the seventies like Rocket Man. It was grand! Visions of the old Joanna at the Sally (MacLennane)….

I think Max and I could easily last a whole evening session in there and quaff a front row of their current local offerings (Tiley’s is their homebrew btw — very local):

Goffs Black Knight
Box Steam Brewery Tunnel Vision
Tiley’s Ordinary Bitter
Tiley’s India Pale Ale
Tiley’s Citra Simcoe Session Pale Ale
Moor Italia Hop

Tom Olivers Perry
Tom Olivers Goldrush
Tom Oliver’s Making Hay
Tom Oliver’s Shezam
Tom Oliver’s Traditional
Once Upon A Tree Kingston Redstreak
