Venerable Cotswolds

Moving on to the Wheatsheaf at Northleach (must be a limerick there somewhere), this is another lovely posh C17th pub (they called them Inns) where you can buy a glass of francophile Viognier for nearly 8 quid, or a traditional beer for 4 (I think I had a Budding from the Stroud brewery). Not for the casual or session drinker, but on a sunny summer afternoon it’s beautifully deserted except for the silhouetted consul supping in the corner conversing with the Victorian wise men across the room (who know their lucky onions!).
